Gotti has been busy promoting the single "Rihanna," featuring Young Thug, and Mimms adds the label hopes to get the album out in December in time for the holidays. Yo Gotti's own long- awaited album, "The Art of the Hustle," is complete but still awaiting an official release date. "The next record will be a slightly better sound, better production and producers, probably more features." "The mixtape that's out, that's 95 percent music that was done before we got involved," says Mimms.

Youngsta's full-length debut is expected to drop sometime in 2016. He also features along with Lil' Boosie on Gotti's new track, "Good Die Young," which is available from iTunes. In addition to the release of "I Swear to God," CMG is starting to promote Youngsta's "Heavy" nationally. And last week in Memphis, Gotti celebrated Blac Youngsta during a listening party for his new mixtape, "I Swear to God." "We all built a natural relationship, and now it's like family, pretty much."īlac Youngsta's signing was made official late last month during a ceremony aboard a private jet flight to Atlanta. "We took him on the road with us before even talking about signing or doing anything, just to get a feel for him," Mimms adds. He was like their neighborhood hero already, and we felt like this guy may have something. "We saw how the people in his area clung to him. "We ran into him while we were shooting a video in his part of town," says CMG president Brandon Mimms, who is also signed on as Youngsta's manager.

He followed with a three-volume "Fast Brick" mixtape series and last year's single "Heavy," which drew the interest of CMG. Youngsta first emerged locally through performances at the McMillan Street block party, an event dedicated to slain neighborhood resident King Craddy. Perhaps not surprisingly, the South Memphis-bred Blac Youngsta is cut from the same street-wise cloth as Gotti.

Bluff City native Blac Youngsta is the latest local to sign, following fellow Memphis MCs Snootie Wild and Zed Zilla (and Milwaukeean Wave Chappelle). Memphis rapper Yo Gotti's label, CMG, has added another artist to its roster.
